Mission
Pinnacle Hospice Care of Portland was founded by hospice professionals who are committed to provide care that exceeds all expectations. We are proud to be an established hospice provider in Multnomah County and the surrounding counties.
We believe that in providing compassionate care for the terminally ill patients and their families, we help them discover that every minute of every day of life has value and can be lived to the fullest measure. Our goal is enhancing each moment with the most advanced pain management and comfort care available.
Why Hospice?
Hospice care is chosen when the focus shifts from curative treatment to comfort care for individuals facing a life-limiting illness. It’s a compassionate approach that prioritizes quality of life, allowing patients to live their final days with dignity, comfort, and the support of loved ones. Hospice is not about giving up; it’s about ensuring that patients and their families have the care and support they need during a difficult time.
When should I be in Hospice?
Hospice care is typically considered when a doctor determines that a patient has six months or less to live if the illness runs its natural course. It’s appropriate for patients who are no longer seeking curative treatments and instead wish to focus on pain management, comfort, and quality of life. Early enrollment in hospice can help maximize the benefits of the care provided, ensuring that patients and their families receive comprehensive support.
What comfort do I receive?
Hospice care provides a range of comfort measures, including expert pain and symptom management, emotional and spiritual support, and personalized care plans tailored to the patient’s needs and wishes. The goal is to alleviate physical discomfort and provide psychological and spiritual peace. Hospice also supports families by offering respite care, counseling, and guidance, ensuring they are not alone in this journey.
How is Hospice paid for?
Hospice care is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance plans, meaning that the majority of patients will not face significant out-of-pocket costs. These programs typically cover the full range of hospice services, including medical care, medications, equipment, and support services, so that patients and families can focus on spending time together without worrying about financial burdens.
